What is Green Iowa AmeriCorps
Green Iowa AmeriCorps (AmeriCorps pronounced ameri-core) is an organization working to promote environmental sustainability across the state of Iowa. The organization contains three separate branches: Energy & Community, Land & Water Stewards, and Sustainable Schools. Sustainable Schools in particular is focused on helping school districts become more eco-friendly. Members of this group help Clear Creek Amana schools to reduce energy usage and implement various projects with goals to teach students about the environment.

Hello! My name is Regan and I serve as the Sustainable Operations Coordinator through AmeriCorps focusing on ways the district can improve its sustainable practices through energy and waste reduction strategies, conscious behavior changes from students and staff, as well as assisting with large scale projects like the Middle School Outdoor Classroom. I am in my last semester at the University of Iowa pursuing a Bachelor's in Environmental Policy and Planning with a certificate in Sustainability. More About Megan:
I'm Megan and I serve as the Education and Outreach Coordinator within the CCA district. This is my first term in the Sustainable Schools branch of Green Iowa AmeriCorps, but I previously served in the Energy and Community branch for the Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department for two terms. I am in charge of education and outreach events/activities related to the environment and sustainability within the CCA district. I graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.A. in Environmental Policy and Planning with a Certificate in Sustainability. I have also obtained my Certified Nonprofit Credential (CNP) through the University of Northern Iowa. I am passionate about environmental issues and sustainable practices.
